It is estimated that two to four percent of children have amblyopia or lazy eye, which is the loss of development of vision in the eye. Early detection and treatment is essential in reducing the risk of vision loss.
Dr. Roberto Warman, President of Pediatric Ophthalmology Consultants, says that in many children signs are not obvious.
“On many patients with amblyopia, the eyes are straight and there are no visible signs. There are others with suspicions of amblyopia including misaligned eyes, droopy lids, and even poor light reflexes.”
To ensure that children receive early detection and treatment, Pediatric Ophthalmology Consultants in conjunction with the Division of Ophthalmology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, are offering FREE SCREENINGS for children between the ages of 3 and 6 years old on Saturday, August 15th from 9am-2pm.
You have to call (305) 662-8390 to make an appointment.
